Have You Heard About the New Cricut Gypsy Promotion?

If you do not have a Cricut Gypsy yet, or if you have one, but just have not pulled it out of the box yet, listen up - there is a really awesome promotion, but it ends on October 31, 2010.  (UPDATE:  Did you miss the deadline?  Good news!  The promotion was extended through December 31st, 2010, although the extended promotion does not include Smiley Cards.)  This announcement was posted Friday (October 15th, 2010) by AdminBecky on the Provo Craft message board:

Buy and register a Gypsy by Cricut by October 31 and receive 6 free cartridges downloaded to your Gypsy – including the exclusive, all-new "Smiley Cards" cartridge (and don't forget about Gypsy Wanderings and Gypsy font cartridges that come pre-loaded on the machine). It's a $419 value!

Free cartridges include:

  • Smiley Cards (new and exclusive to this promotion)
  • Tags, Bags, Boxes and More (not available in retail)
  • Christmas (not available in retail)
  • Blackletter (not available in retail)
  • Printing Press (not available in retail)
  • Indie Art (not available in retail)

All current Gypsy owners included! Simply register your Gypsy by October 31, 2010 and get access to all downloads. Register at www.cricut.com/gypsy.
Downloads will be available through a special update to your Gypsy starting November 1st.

New Gypsy cartridge downloads are easy! Just connect your Gypsy to your computer and you'll automatically be prompted how to start. In just a few steps, you'll be able to download all six cartridges containing thousands of images! And with Gypsy, you'll have all the cartridge artwork and keypad overlays on your Gypsy screen, so there's no actual cartridge, handbook, or packaging.

You only have a few weeks. Don't miss out!!

How exciting is that! We get one brand spankin' new cartridge, and five awesome retired cartridges - yet one more reason to love the Cricut Gypsy!  If you do not have one yet, this is an excellent reason to go ahead and get one - you get six cartridges, in addition to the two that already come pre-loaded.  The Gypsy does have a little bit of a learning curve, but once you figure it out, you will wonder how you ever lived without it.  In fact, I don't think I even know how to operate my Expression any more without it!

I have owned my Gypsy for awhile now, so I really was not sure if I had registered it.  I am horrible about cleaning out my email, and I did a search (Yahoo mail has an awesome search function) and found my registration confirmation.

However, if your email inbox is a bit more tidy than mine and you already deleted your registration confirmation, I found another way that you can make sure you are registered for the updates.  There is a login button in the upper right hand corner of the Cricut.com website.  I was able to login there using my message board password, and under the "my account" tab (also upper right hand corner), I was able to view my registration history.

Pretty handy!  While I was in the "my account" dashboard, I also clicked the box to subscribe to the newsletter.  For some reason, I stopped receiving it and never knew why.  Now I should be back on the list, just in time for Hello Thursday!

Anyway, let me know what you think.  Do you already have a Cricut Gypsy, or are you getting one due to this promotion?  How many of the five retired cartridges do you already own?  Like me, were you also scratching your head, wondering if you had actually registered your machine?  And like me, did you do a happy clap when you found out that you were getting some new cartridges on November 1st?  Yes, my husband and kiddos were rolling their eyes at me last night, but these are the kind of surprises I like - it's almost as if Christmas came early!

  1. I had been on the edge about getting the gypsy. It is a luxury to have but I didn’t know if I wanted to pay that much just for the machine! Once I heard this come out we placed my gypsy on order it should be in the mail today. It pushed me to get it, so yes, I placed my gypsy order because of this promotion!! I’m so very excited about it! Yeah to the gypsy and great thinking provo craft!!

  2. Hi Misty,

You will love it! Let us know what you think about it after you have had a chance to play with it for awhile…

  3. Sooooo, it says all current Gypsy owners included. If I already have my Gypsy and registered it last year, does this mean these cartridges will be available for me to download, also? If so, I’m going to do a happy dance! I don’t own any of those, and really wanted the retired Blackletter!

  4. This promotion also finally convinced me to purchase a Gypsy. I had wanted one for awhile but felt like it was an extra toy to spend money on and I already had my Cricut. It arrived today and Im trying to figure it out. I am excited about getting the extra cartridges very soon. Im also excited to find out which cartridges I own because all of them show up hehe.

  5. I tried to do the free download (previous gypsy owner who had registered) but when I do the update it says my gypsy is up to date. Has anybody tried it yet?

  6. Hi Stacy, You probably already found the answer to your question, but YES, if you purchased and registered your Gypsy last year, these cartridges are available for you to download.

Hi Jennifer, I hope you are having fun! The Gypsy does take a little while to figure out, but once you get the hang of it, it become invaluable!

Hi Theresa, Did you download the Cricut Sync software? You have to use the Cricut Sync instead of the Gypsy Sync to get the downloads.

  7. I have a question for the more experienced who already have been using their Gypsy. I see that ALL the cartridges are showing in the “Gypsy library” — even before I have linked the cartridges I have. How do I know which of those in the “library” are actually active?

  8. Hi Stacy, You probably already found the answer to your question, but YES, if you purchased and registered your Gypsy last year, these cartridges are available for you to download. 12. Hi, unless I’m mistaken, the Gypsy promotion was a limited time offer. I believe they extended it to February 28, 2011, but I’m not sure if it was extended past that date. You may want to contact their customer service department to confirm. Here’s the contact information:

    Cricut® support hours
    Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (MST)
    Cricut® support: 801-932-1144
    Toll free service phone: 877-7CRICUT
    Fax: 801-794-9001
    email: support@Cricut.com

  13. It would be great if Provocraft did extend the offer and try to keep customers sweet. So many are jumping ship it would give them a reason to stay. After all their products arent exactly cheap and they have occasional flaws but freebies could make one forget all about this. Lol
