Why I Love the Cricut George Cartridge

The Cricut George cartridge is one of my favorites, for a couple of reasons.

Before I get to those, though, I just wanted to mention that I didn't think I would like the George cartridge when I first opened it.  Quite honestly, there's no "wow" factor there - it just seems, well, very basic (for lack of a better word!), especially when you compare it to some of the other cartridges out there.

However, after I used it a few times, I realized what a workhorse it actually was!  It wasn't long before it became one of my favorites...

First, it has the best selection of basic shapes.  Admittedly, Accent Essentials has a lot of shapes too, but when I just want something simple, George never lets me down!  Simple shapes have countless uses when it comes to designing scrapbook layouts and cards.  On top of that, basic shapes are a must when designing your own cutouts.  Just ask any users of the Design Studio software!

I also like to use it when I'm crafting with my three year old.  For some reason, the Cricut George cartridge seems to be the one we reach for whenever we have the glue and scissors pulled out.  As a matter of fact, in the next couple of weeks we will be making some Valentines for his preschool class, and even though I haven't decided yet what we will be making, I'm sure we will be using it!

Finally, I just really like the font.  It's easy to cut - and it looks great on everything.  What's not to like!

The only drawback to the Cricut George cartridge is that it is sold exclusively with the original Personal Electronic Cutter.  That means that if you purchased the Expression or the Create, you have to work a little harder to track it down. I'm hoping the folks over at Cricut change their mind on this one (and soon!), but I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I guess that's it for now!  Of course, if you have anything to add, feel free to do so.  It's easy - just leave a comment...
