I know there are a lot of you waiting for Provo Craft to release a Cricut Halloween cartridge. I'm with you on that one! However, until that day arrives, there are a few cartridges that will do the trick (or should I say "treat"!).
It's Time for An Update! This post was written back in 2008. I'm updating this two years later, and now we have a great selection of Halloween-only cartridges to select from. They include the following:
- Happy Hauntings - This is a full cartridge which includes not only great images, but a couple of font sets as well!
- Mini Monsters - Another full cart. This one includes card and phrase creative features.
- Pumpkin Carving - This is a seasonal cart, available only during 2010, and is a must-have if you love decorating with jack-o-lanterns.
- October 31st - Another seasonal cart for 2010. This one has a lot of great Halloween images, great for scrapbooking, card making and other projects.
Let's Play Dress Up!
Over the years, my two boys and I have collected various pieces of clothing, as wells as capes, masks, hats, and other accessories, that are stored in what we call our "Halloween Box". At the beginning of October, we pull out the box, and spend the afternoon trying on various combinations. It's a good time, and by the time we are done, the boys usually have the beginnings of their Halloween costumes.
The Paper Dolls Dress Up cartridge is the same idea. You can cut out all different types of clothing and accessories for your paper people cutouts, mix and match a little, and before you know it, you will find one resembles your favorite little monster! Of course, it helps that your paper dolls come with a "Halloween Box" of their own. Ghosts, furry monsters, pirates and princess fairies, cowboys and knights in shining armor, even mermaids and kitty cats, can be created with this cartridge. The perfectly costumed paper dolls make great embellishments for your scrapbook layouts and Halloween party invites.
Got pumpkins? The Cricut Stretch Your Imagination cartridge does! And not just any pumpkins, but the smiley-faced jack o'lanterns that haunt the front porches of many homes during the month of October. This cartridge also includes some spooky spiders, adding that perfect creepy touch to your Halloween projects !
What About All That Halloween Candy!
Ask just about any 'lil ghoul what they love most about Halloween, and nine times out of ten, they will reply with a devilish grin "CANDY!" What better way to hold all those gummy eyeballs and candy corn pieces than in a handcrafted container made using the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge. All you need is some appropriately colored cardstock, and you will be on your way to creating the perfect containers for your favorite trick-or-treaters!
Wait, There's More!
Even though there is no Cricut Halloween cartridge, many of them are suited for this fun holiday - it just takes a little creativity. For example, I have even seen Frankenstein's head created from the basic shapes included in the George cartridge. So, let us know - how have you used your Cricut to spook up some Halloween fun? Leave a comment and let us know!
